Urbanek leaves, but stays with KM

KraussMaffei’s (Munich, Germany; www.kraussmaffei.com) chief technical officer Otto Urbanek resigned as of the end of December, but his foot is still in the door. According to a press release from the company, KM’s CEO Dietmar Straub asked Urbanek to stay on as chair of the Technology Committee and provide consulting services.

“As a forward thinker, he ensured that KraussMaffei made the maintenance of its globally unique engineering strengths, with expertise in three major technologies, a part of our corporate strategy,” says Straub. “He successfully implemented the switchover to synchronized flow assembly, initiated the partnership with Toshiba, and took the new AX Series to market readiness in record time. In short, Dr. Urbanek has made a decisive contribution to ensuring that KraussMaffei is today the technology leader in our sector.”
