Product Watch: Erema upgrades its plastics recycling lines with ecoSAVE additions

Article-Product Watch: Erema upgrades its plastics recycling lines with ecoSAVE additions

Recycling of plastics already has a nice sustainable ring to it, and Erema's machines see use in the recycling of a wide variety of thermoplastics to include even printed films and equipment for bottle-to-bottle recycling for beverage packaging. Now the Austrian manufacturer of plastics recycling machinery has developed is ecoSAVE package as a means for its customers to reduce CO2 emissions, power consumption and, as a result, production costs.

As we reported here, ecoSAVE was commercially introduced last year, and now the manufacturer can report on some of the savings realized in the field. Among the measures included in the ecoSAVE package is the use of energy-saving components such as high-performance motors, with the end result of the measures a reduction in energy consumption of up to 10%.

The company, based in Ansfelden, Austria, near Linz, says it plans to add new features to the energy saving package this year. To reduce losses through heat radiating to the outside and to optimize thermal output even further, melt filters on new recycling systems will now feature added insulation. These extras are included in all new Erema plastic recycling systems as added value at no additional charge.

An option with the new package is a process control system that gives the operator information on current energy requirements, so that he can take active energy-optimization steps.
