After withdrawing from NPE2009 in February, injection molding machinery maker Nissei Plastics Industrial Co. (Nagano-ken, Japan) says it has reversed that decision and will be at the show, though in a space half the size that it originally planned. The efforts of SPI officials led by CEO William Carteaux, who traveled to Japan in early March, were effective, particularly in light of the absence of all Japanese injection machine makers from this week’s Chinaplas 2009 show in Guangzhou.

The Nissei NEX110-18E machine on show at NPE2009 is designed for molding bioplastic materials.

SPI officials met with Nissei president Hozumi Yoda, who had made the original decision to withdraw, explained the importance of Japanese injection machine makers at the show, and described the NPE Stimulus Package of incentives and cost savings that SPI created in light of the poor economic conditions worldwide.

The end result is that Nissei will be showing three machines at NPE2009: a hybrid liquid silicone rubber (LSR) molding system designed for cleanroom use, an electric machine crafted specifically for molding biomaterials, and another hybrid molding high-impact polystyrene (HIPS). In addition, the company will be showing samples of a new high-performance composite called Voltiga.

Nissei, which pioneered the development of all-electric molding machines, was the first Japanese molding machine maker to exhibit its wares at NPE, making its debut in 1966. At NPE2009 (June 22-26), Nissei will be in the South Hall of McCormick Place in booth 36039. [email protected]
