Thai firm secures acrylic resin production license

PTT, a major producer of commodity resins in its own right, is a partner of Asahi Kasei Chemicals in the joint venture PTT Asahi Chemical (PTTAC), a manufacturer of acrylonitrile (AN) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) with new plants in Thailand that began full-scale commercial operation in January this year.

The technology license enables PTT to achieve its plan to produce 40,000 tonnes of PMMA per year using MMA feedstock obtained from PTTAC. PMMA is used in a wide range of applications in automotive, optical, and industrial fields, as well as consumer goods.
