Styrolution inaugurates Korean ASA plant

Styrolution (Frankfurt/Main, Germany) has inaugurated a plant located in Ulsan, South Korea for its Luran S acrylonitrile styrene acrylate (ASA) resins that have been impact-modified with acrylic ester rubber.

The new plant has a capacity of 43,000 tonnes per year, complementing current ASA capacity in Europe and North America, enabling Styrolution to offer customers in the Asia-Pacific region greater security of supply and shorter lead times.

Luran S features high thermal stability, good chemical resistance and excellent resistance to weathering, ageing and yellowing. Such properties make Luran S well-suited for outdoor applications in various industries including automotive, electrical & electronics, building & construction, as well as sports & leisure. An improved generation of UV-stabilized ASA (with improved light fastness) was launched in 2011, opening up a wealth of new possibilities for unpainted exterior applications. This pioneering technology is said to be an ideal solution for sustaining deep colors for use in the premium car segment.
