UPDATED: ResTech Plastic Molding acquires TechAtlantic nearly doubling machine fleet

ResTech Plastic Molding (Hudson, MA) has acquired custom injection molder TechAtlantic (Berlin, CT), adding that company's 22 injection molding machines and customers in fluid filtration systems, medical components, cosmetics, automotive, personal care, and electronics industries.

TechAtlantic's equipment stable, ranging from 22 to 500 tons, nearly doubles ResTech's machinery footprint, bringing the total number of machines to 58. TechAtlantic has a full tool room providing mold maintenance as well as moldmaking and design capabilities. A ResTech spokesperson told PlasticsToday that TechAtlantic employs 20 people at its 64,000-sq-ft plant.

In addition to standard horizontal injection molding, TechAtlantic has vertical, overmolding, and multimaterial molding capabilities.

ResTech's existing 36 injection molding machines range in size from 80 to 500 tons, with shot sizes from 1.5 to 80 ounces. ResTech Plastic Molding was created in April 2010 when the then 34-yr-old Res-Tech Corp. was acquired by Plastic Molding Manufacturing, founded in 1982. Res-Tech had facilities in Clinton and Leominster, MA, with reported sales in the $8 million range. The former Plastic Molding Manufacturing has machines ranging in clamp tonnage from 80 to 770 tons, molding parts from 1.5 oz to up to 10-lb enclosures, according to its website. ResTech Plastic Molding has a Class 8 cleanroom houses six electric injection molding machines with clamping forces of 40-120 tons.

The ResTech spokesperson said that the company now has 87 total employees split between the sites in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
