Relation among VDI texture, CH Texture and SPI polishing

Molds texture is one of most important factores for molds design and making. In Realhao Industrial, we can offer customer plastic injection molds with all kinds of texture such as VDI texture, CH texture, MT Texture. But the main supplier of mold texture in our company is Hongkong Yick Sang Metal and Plastic Mould Texturing Company. We called it YS texture. Of course, for some simple texture such as VID27, 30, 33, we choose some small mold textures company to do that for cost caving. After plastic injection molding, you can get fantastic plastic molded parts. Here we want to discuss two problems. One is principles of texture processing. Another is the relation among VDI, CH and SPI mold texture.
Principles of texture:
1. Don’t making welding on mold. If it is not avoided to make welding on mold. You have to weld the same material on the original material. And noted please, the welded parts have to be quenched.
2. All inserts on the molds have to be uninstalled to clean it. And then install it back to the mold. The areal to be textured have to be marked.
3. The layer on the surface of the parted processed by EDM, have to be polished off. The surface of the textured area has to be polished by 400#-1200# sand paper according to different requests.
4. If it is very urgent, texture sample or relevant texture information will be sent to the texture processing company one day before textured inserts be delivered, especially for some complicated textures.
5. Different steel with different chemistry contents. The specifications of different steels are different. It is also affecting the texture processing. For one mold, we try to use same steel for textured area.
Recommendation of steel for texture
In order to get good texture, we recommend customers to choose NAK80, NAK90, P20, 738, 718 steel to be mold steel for texture.
VDI, CH and SPI are different standard for plastic mold texture making. VDI is Germany standard of ISO3400. CH was made by Charmilles in Switzerland. SPI are made by Americal Plastic Association. All of them are used widely around the world. But many people don't know the relation amony them.
