Label converter adds web offset printing

RB Dwyer Group has recently installed an IVCO (Infinitely Variable Cylinder Web Offset) press, manufactured by RDP Marathon, in its East coast location in Wilkes Barre, PA. This press is a first of its kind for Dwyer (Anaheim, CA) and claimed to be the only one in North America doing shrink-sleeve labels. For Dwyer, the new equipment helps it meet the needs of its customers who use shrink sleeves but need them with shorter lead times and lower minimums at more competitive prices.

NF_1018_RB-Dwyer_offsetprinting_0.gifIVCO technology provides quality printing comparable with no tooling costs, as contrasted with the tooling costs associated with rotogravure printing. It allows for quick changeovers for variable repeat lengths, which could not be done with traditional offset printing. For Dwyer's customers, they have greater flexibility in printing multiple SKUs and the option to change label graphics more frequently without the cost of rotogravure cylinders.

The RB Dwyer Group processes shrink labels, tamper-evident bands, and preforms for the beverage, food, personal-care products, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

Rutter's Dairy used the new IVCO press for full-sleeve printed shrink labels for its 1% Lowfat Vanilla Milk & its 1% Strawberry Milk.
