Two-color printing, one fixture

The V-design of the Gemini 60/90 pad printing machine from ITW Trans Tech (Carol Stream, IL) means a single part-holding fixture can serve for two-color printing by two reciprocating gear-driven print heads. Ink pickup, printing, and pad cleaning are done simultaneously. Independent PLC control of each print head makes possible any variation for one to four hits from either unit.

ITW says the pneumatic-mechanical, gear-driven system ensures high color registration accuracy and smooth, reliable operation. The automatic tape cleaning device standard on this system supports better print quality and more efficient production. Maximum print size is 50 mm with the 60-mm cup and 80 mm with the 90-mm cup. Maximum cycle speed is 1200 pph and there is a touch-screen control for setup, machine faults, and print troubleshooting.?RN
