Automated electrode handling

Moldmakers looking to upgrade to more automated equipment and save floor space in the process have a new option in the WorkMaster Compact workpiece loading station and electrode changer. Manufactured by System 3R and offered by Mitsubishi EDM, the WorkMaster offers easy installation and the opportunity to increase electrode magazine positions.

Magazine sections on the machine are interchangeable to allow for increased magazine capacity. Loading and unloading of electrodes is said to be simple and smooth thanks to a hinged magazine door. This unit automates wire EDM, sinker EDM, and milling applications and can be loaded from the right or left side. Designed to fit System 3R?s WorkMaster 1250, the Compact allows users to increase automation capacity in a modular fashion. It?s also equipped with an integrated gravity-fed drip tray which returns dielectric to the machine.

The Macro pallets can hold 84 electrodes with eight workpieces on the Dynafix or MacroMagnum pallets. Options are available for 168 positions on the Macro pallets with an extra electrode magazine, 140 positions for the MacroJunior pallets, and 280 positions for the MacroJunior pallets with an extra electrode magazine. Pricing starts at about $74,000.
