Automatic laser marking

Lasit USA (Branford, CT) introduced what it says is the first fully automatic fiber laser marking system with an automatic marking machine for round pens, barrels, and small cylindrical parts. Parts 1-7 inches long are fed into a hopper, which automatically orients them in the same direction. An additional station can locate a pocket clip (on pens) or other detail to orient the part for marking. Built-in electronic sensors can determine if a part is in place to be marked, which enables the laser to begin. At full capacity, the machine can mark 3000-4000 units/hr with logos, graphics, bar codes, data matrix, and measurement rings or marks.

The station allows for marking in more than one location as well as marking on varying heights. Parts can be rotated 360° to make unlimited circumferential marks, and the system can also mark around the diameter of parts that are parallel to one another. Multiple marking stations can be added to each machine, depending on the production requirements, and all programs are stored and can be called up at any time. Once the system is set up, it is fully automatic, requiring no operator.?KD
