Dual hopper dryers automatically adjust airflow

PF_Wittmann_dryer.jpgDrymax 100 Series portable dryers have SmartFlow valves and integrated microprocessor control in a dual hopper configuration. The valves replace manually adjustable air flappers, automatically adjusting airflow and heat requirements based on the demand for dry air inside the hopper. Throughputs for the dual-hopper dryers range up to 71 kg/hr (155 lb/hr), depending on the specific resin and its drying requirements.

Drying progress is monitored individually for each hopper by measuring the temperature differential between the incoming and outgoing air. If the rate of resin consumption from either hopper slows down, the corresponding SmartFlow valve automatically decreases airflow to that hopper, and vice versa.

Automatic airflow monitoring is said to eliminate manual adjustments to match the individual conditions for each hopper. Heating is automatically adjusted to varying material throughput conditions in each hopper, minimizing energy consumption.
