Granulator line offers automated, manual input

New Herbold has become the North American distributor for Wanner Technik?s line of beside-the-press granulators. The product line consists of two series: the Compact (C) Series for the automated delivery of sprues, runners, and thin-wall parts, and the Dynamic (D) Series for the manual feeding of various forms of injection molded scrap at high output rates. Modular in design, the granulators are offered with different hoppers and discharge arrangements to accommodate various applications. The C and D Series are equipped with a split cutting chamber design that reportedly allows quick, fast, and safe access to the rotor and screen for cleanout. Both lines are also designed with a low-speed, staggered rotor for optimum cutting action. Five models are available, with cutting chamber sizes ranging from 5 by 8 to 10 by 15 inches. (Later this year, New Herbold plans to introduce a series with 12- and 14-inch cutting-circle diameters.) Motor sizes range from 2 to 10 hp and operating noise levels are reported to be below 83 dbA. Price ranges from $4995 to $11,220.
