Colorable TPVs for automotive interiors

Colorable thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPVs) are available for use in low-odor, low-fog, UV-stable soft-touch automotive interior applications. The new colorable grades of M300 Santoprene are an addition to the existing black M300 grades introduced last year. They reportedly feature a reduction in fogging vs. competitive elastomeric materials.

These new grades are formulated for the critical processing and appearance requirements of automotive interior components. They?re said to feature a dry, rubbery, nongreasy feel coupled with a nonglossy appearance. When tested under the DIN 75201B standard (100C, 16 hours), these TPVs reportedly yielded fogging results as low as 1.2 mg. As with the black grades, the colorable ones are low-weight, fully recyclable materials and are available in hardnesses of 65 and 85 Shore A. Target applications include cup holders, mats, coin trays, grips, and other soft-touch interior components.
