Gerresheimer sells automotive molding unit to FBH Group
Gerresheimer AG (Düsseldorf, Germany) has sold its Technical Plastics business unit to the FBH Group (Bad Soden, Germany), a holding company, for €12 million. The sale strips away the last of the non-core plastics processing operations that Gerresheimer owned after its acquisition of injection molder Wilden (now Gerresheimer Wilden; Regensburg, also Germany) in 2007.

The Technical Plastics business employs about 430 at molding facilities in Germany, the Czech Republic and Mexico, and had annual sales of €74 million in FY08. FBH Group in early 2006 acquired its own automotive injection molding business, Thermoplast Technik (Eichenzeil, Germany), which has five processing sites, four in Germany and one in Mexico, with its primary business being the molding of parts for automotive HVAC (heating/ventilation/air conditioning) systems, lighting, and filters. The acquired Gerresheimer business unit is more focused on underhood and interior assemblies, so that the purchase enables Thermoplast Technik to pursue new business. —[email protected]
