Rail mounted robots offer mobility

The first six-axis overhead, rail-mounted servorobots in North America are available in three models offering a variety of reach and payload capabilities. The robots? one linear and five rotary axes create a truly mobile robot capable of servicing multiple machines, stations, and other operations. The rail mount allows top, front, or side entry into a machine tool or molding machine and allows the robot to reach back behind itself, creating a 3-D work envelope instead of just a 2-D one. The price is reportedly competitive with traditional four-axis gantry robots.
