ACS Group (Schaumburg, IL), a manufacturer of auxiliary equipment for the plastics industry, found NPE2015 to be an excellent venue for showcasing its new product lineup. The company introduced its line of portable VP Series vacuum pumps, giving plastics processors a versatile and cost-effective mid-range alternative to permanently installed vacuum conveying systems for efficient transfer of pellets and regrind.

The new VP Series vacuum pumps are self-contained and compact, which means they can be easily positioned where needed to convey materials. Offered in three models rated from 1.0 to 11.5 HP, these vacuum pumps efficiently convey dry material over short and medium distances. They are offered in open- or closed-loop configurations, and can be equipped with a variety of different filter options to match the materials involved and the needs of operation for added versatility.

Cumberland, an ACS Group brand, unveiled its Combi-shredder, an innovative design that combines a shredder and granulator into a single unit to speed productivity and conserve floor space, while improving uptime associated with size-reduction operations. The Combi-shredder offers an integrated system for shredding and granulating plastic scrap and features a shredder stacked directly onto the granulator. The direct feed, combined with the elimination of separate conveying steps, saves time and increases productivity in virtually any plastics processing and postconsumer resin reclamation application. The Combi-shredder delivers throughput capabilities of up to 700 kg/hr.

By stacking the shredder and granulator and eliminating conveyors, the Combi-shredder occupies a smaller footprint when compared with separate machines. It comes with a range of features designed to ensure optimum uptime and ease-of-use, including cutter reversal mechanism, blade level sensors, anti-torsion shaft, intuitive controls and more.

AEC, an ACS Group brand, announced the latest addition to its chiller line: the Trident GS Series central chiller. The Trident integrates advanced technologies with proven component design to offer a capable and innovative process chilling solution, said the company. Individual circuits range from 50 to 120 tons of chilling capacity and users have the ability to parallel up to five circuits for a maximum of 600 tons of chilling capacity. Each individual Trident circuit utilizes proven dual screw compressor technology while offering an advanced operator panel for intuitive chilling system control.

TS Tech, the integrated tool-less strainer technology, allows for rapid maintenance while maximizing the uptime of each chiller circuit. The larger strainer surface and easy access equates to less labor time ensuring optimum equipment performance. Easy maintenance is provided with integrated Schrader valves for simple service connection and refrigerant recharging.

Cumberland also introduced the U Series Feedroll system, a granulator feed conveyor designed to ensure seamless startup in thermoforming applications for improved uptime. The U Series Feedroll system features a broad opening (up to 56 inches across) to handle the most challenging scrap associated with large thermoforming applications. The extra-wide opening helps eliminate jamming or misfeeds when feeding bulk scrap during startup. Users can also adjust the size of the opening to more efficiently process lower-volume skeletal scrap.

The U Series Feedroll is offered as an option on new Cumberland thermoforming granulators, and can be retrofitted to existing compatible Cumberland units.
