Plastic film extruder Mitsubishi Polyester Film Inc. has announced another multi-million dollar investment in its facility in Greer, South Carolina, with this one in addition to the project and investment announced by the processor in 2010 to roll out its Reprocess program, the industry's first closed loop recycling process for silicone-coated PET liners.

Now, officials at Mitsubishi Polyester Film say they will make another major capital upgrade at the Greer site. The $20 million investment will increase capacity as well as "provide enhanced capability to produce innovative new products," reports the company.

How so, we asked? Well, the processor is keeping that to itself. In answer tour questions as to on what the funds will be spent, Rose Marchek, human resource director at the processor, replied she could not share specifics on the equipment, technology or new products in which the company will invest, only that "we are increasing the capacity and adding new capability that will allow us more flexibility and innovation in product design." Marchek added that this new investment does not require additional building space. She said the processor would not be hiring additional fulltime workers as a result of this most recently announced investment. The previously announced Reprocess project will lead to the hiring of 10-15 new employees.

In a company statement, Dennis Trice, president and COO at Mitsubishi Polyester Film Inc., said the projects at the Greer facility will be completed in late 2012. "Mitsubishi has already invested over $200 million at its Greer facility over the past 10 years. These new projects continue to reinforce our dedication to the industry."
