CD-ROM teaches geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

Understanding the international engineering language of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is becoming essential for communicating in the global marketplace. That?s why A. Routsis Assoc. developed a new interactive CD-ROM training series for production/inspection personnel, supervisors, setup personnel, and others. This four-disk series features four courses: Basic Principles; Interpreting GD&T Symbols; Form and Orientation Tolerances; and Profile, Runout, and Location Tolerances. Users of the software will have a better understanding of the function and relationship of plastic part features.

The first course covers the definition, benefits, and basic terminology of GD&T. It also covers all aspects of tolerance. The second course, titled Interpreting GD&T Symbols, covers the effect of material condition on size of geometric tolerance, among other subjects.

The third program defines and interprets form and orientation tolerances, and covers the application of maximum material condition principles and inspection procedures. The fourth program defines and interprets profile and runout tolerances. Like the third program, it also covers the application of maximum material condition principles and inspection procedures.

The interactive training courses allow users to work at their own pace, enabling them to start and stop when desired. Students can post questions and comments during the course, while the administrator or supervisor can track and document the user?s progress and respond to questions. The four-CD set, which provides a total of 6 to 8 hours of GD&T training, costs $4997.
