Compounding: Ter Hell adds five extrusion lines
Thermoplastics compounder Ter Hell Plastic GmbH (Herne, Germany) has ordered three new compound extruders from KraussMaffei Berstorff (Hanover, also Germany) to be delivered to Ter Hell’s joint venture in Changshu, China. The operation there is a JV of the compounder and one of China’s leading plastics distributors, NCM Polymer Co. Ltd. With installation of the machines expected by mid-2010, the venture’s capacity will reach about 3000 tonnes/yr.

The compounder also has invested in its home market with two twin-screw lines, also from Berstorff, for its facility in Herne. One is a small lab line, the other a standard compounding line; both have been in operation since late summer. The company is active throughout Europe and in 2008 hit revenue of about €119 million. It employs 98 and has compounding capacity of 12,000 tonnes/yr from its current nine lines. —[email protected]
