E-shots Web-exclusive: Metallization, other surfacing inline

Working with Balda AG (Bad Oeyenhausen, Germany), Singulus Technologies AG (Kahl am Main, Germany) is developing a fully automated production line integrating everything from injection molding through metallization or application of scratch-resistant finishes to plastic. The line is based on the Singulus 3DS Sputtering System, which can coat 3D plastic parts on both sides simultaneously. The first model of the line will be delivered in May 2007 to process covers for plastic mobile phone and handheld game devices. Other target markets include cosmetic packaging, toys, electronics, and auto components.
