Molecor expands PVC-O production capacity in South Africa

Molecor, a developer and manufacturer of molecular orientation technology for water conveyance under pressure, has expanded its production capacity of oriented PVC-O pipes in South Africa with the installation of a second manufacturing line.

Headquartered in Madrid, Spain, where the company has an R&D facility and extrusion plant, Molecor and its partner Sizabantu Piping Systems Pty Ltd. in South Africa have supplied thousands of kilometers of PVC-O pipelines on the African continent, said Molecor. All of its pipes are certified according to the specifications of the South African SANS 16422 standard.

Molecor South Africa was inaugurated in 2016 with the installation of a PVC-O production line; just one year later, production capacity is doubling to meet demand.

Located in Richards Bay, the plant currently has a production capacity of 8,000 tonnes per year for manufacturing TOM-branded PVC-O pipes under license from Molecor for southern African countries.

With this expansion, the company will have access to water projects involving high-pressure, large-diameter pipes. Molecor technology allows the automated production of TOM PVC-O pipes with pipe-to-pipe quality control that ensures reliability of the product through its useful life, according to the company.
