E-shots Web exclusive Industry Watch: Nypro sells out to Sealaska again

Nypro Inc. (Clinton, MA), an $808 million multinational molder, announced in January that it had sold a 51% interest in its Nypro Iowa operations (Mt. Pleasant, IA) to Sealaska Corp. (Juneau, AK), a $170 million ANCSA (Alaska Native Claim Settlement Act of 1971) corporation. Brian Jones, Nypro’s president, and Chris McNeil, Sealaska’s president, made the announcement.

As previously reported, Sealaska already owns a majority stake in Nypro Guadalajara (a.k.a. TriQuest Guadalajara) in Guadalajara, Mexico (see June 2002 IMM). Nypro Guadalajara has 700 employees, a Class 100,000 cleanroom, and 59 presses (50 to 850 tons). Nypro Iowa has 55 employees and 24 molding machines (55 to 300 tons).
