Online quoting service offers reports on industry trends

A new service tracks manufacturing business conditions by surveying users of its website. MfgQuote?s sourcing service for manufacturers is compiling metrics such as dollars spent, specific services sourced, source location by global region, source selection channels, and sourcing methodology.

Companies that use MfgQuote?s website to source manufacturing services are asked to complete a 3-minute survey, then the data is compiled, analyzed, and released on a monthly basis free of charge to its participants in MfgQuote?s Manufacturing Outlook Report, including OEMs, molders, and contract manufacturers.

A recent report that?s indicative of the topics covered says that from June to July participants anticipated spending 8% more on sourced services. In North America, 55% of manufacturing services were sourced; in Asia it was 18% and Europe 16%. Of those surveyed, 50% said quality was the determining factor in rewarding contracts, while 45% said price; 90% said location didn?t matter.
