A company that was founded in 1990 to cater to customers looking for small-order, custom color compounding has made some big news over the decades. Infinity LTL Engineered Compounds (Swedesboro, NJ) began operations in a 10,000-sq-ft facility, compounding and repelletizing polycarbonate regrind, which it then recolored, and reprocessing acrylic copolymers. Ten years later, it purchased additional land and constructed a new 70,000-sq-ft plant, and in 2007 the company opened a facility in Dongguan, China. The medical market has been a growing business area for the company. In 2009, it introduced ColorRx medical-grade resins, and at NPE 2015 next week, it will debut additions to its line of medical-grade compounds and present a recently completed clean compounding site designed specifically for medical customers. The company is exhibiting in booth S-24027.
Part of the company's ColorRx line, the new PA-2000RX PC/ABS and PCT1000FRRX PC/polyester alloys are both UL listed as self-extinguishing. In addition to ISO 10993 compliance and UL listing, the PCT1000FRRX offers improved chemical resistance. Infinity LTL provides fully supported testing for biocompatibility and chemical resistance.
"These new ColorRx products have been tested as either USP Class VI or ISO 10993 compliant, and the available colorants used have been tested for biocompatibility," said Steve Schlegel, Director of Business Development for Healthcare Markets. "This allows medical device manufacturers to speed the product development process with a high level of confidence."
The compounds can be custom formulated and are available globally. They can be made in a range of custom colors and are also characterized by short lead times with no minimum order restrictions.
Clean compounding site introduced
Infinity LTL's new compounding site designed specifically for medtech customers will feature a completely controlled manufacturing environment, according to Tim Carroll, Vice President. "This new manufacturing space was requested by our medical customers. It will enable us to better serve our critical OEMs in the healthcare industry," said Carroll.
Offering capacity for any color-coded application used in operating rooms, the site includes an extruder and auxiliary equipment with a capacity of 1.5 million pounds per year. The 5,000-sq-ft area can be easily expanded, and additional equipment can be added based on customer needs, says Infinity LTL.
LTL Color Compounders Inc. was purchased by Infinity Engineered Compounds, part of the Americhem group of companies, in December 2014. Infinity and LTL were joined at that time to create Infinity LTL Engineered Compounds.
