ESD protection for molded parts

Lubrizol Advanced Materials (Cleveland, OH) introduced a new product to its Conductive Polymers line called Stat-Rite static control system. The system includes several inherently static-dissipative materials that offer permanent ESD protection and prevention. In the past, this system was only available for thermoforming applications, but the new product is available in masterbatch concentrate form and in traditional formulations for injection molding. Stat-Rite is said to contain humidity-independent ESD protection combined with ultralow outgassing constituents and extractable ionic contaminants. “We develop solutions from an independent approach,” says Kurt Edwards, sales and marketing manager. “We combine the ideal permanent and clean ESD additives with the base resin for applications designed around the processing technique required.”
