Excentric Mold planning new facility

Xcentric Mold & Engineering is planning a new facility into which it plans to move from its current 14,000-ft² location in Chesterfield, MI during the fourth quarter of this year. The new 35,000-ft² facility in Clinton Township, MI will give the company room to grow its operations, including adding 5-axis CNC machining capabilities and six more presses throughout 2013, said Xcentric’s co-wwner, Brendan Weaver, at the recent Amerimold show in Novi, MI.
    
Xcentric offers quick-turn tooling and parts, offering the ability to have parts shipped to customers in 1-15 days through its Xpress Parts service. In addition to in-house moldmaking and molding with nine all-electric presses ranging from 55-400 tons, the company offers additive manufacturing processes including SLA, SLS, FDM and cast urethane, said co-owner Brendan Weaver.
    
Current, Xcentric serves a diverse range of customers in the automotive, medical (which Weaver said currently represents 35% of the company’s business), defense, electronics and agriculture. Weaver noted that the company specializes in low-volume production that ranges from 1000 to 50,000 parts per year for its various customers. Xcentric employs 30.
    
“We also offer a lifetime guarantee on all our molds, as long as the molds and parts are manufactured Xcentric,” said Weaver.
    
Xcentric has seen 30% annual growth rate for the past several years, which Weaver attributes to the company’s diverse range of services, its quick-turn capabilities on molds and parts, and its diverse customer base.
