K 2022 Puts Startups in the Spotlight
Startups will have a dedicated area in Hall 8b to present their innovative products and services for the plastics and rubber sector. Applications are still being accepted.
March 1, 2022
I think it’s fair to say that the K show’s triennial schedule has never been as fortuitous as in the current cycle. The last event was held in October 2019, just five months before a global pandemic shut down much of the world. Trade shows were cancelled left and right, including the other mega event for the plastics industry, NPE. K 2022, however, is scheduled to return to Düsseldorf, Germany, on Oct. 19 to 26 without having missed a beat. I’m very much looking forward to it, and here at PlasticsToday we will be publishing previews of the event in the months ahead. And that brings me to a recent announcement from Messe Düsseldorf regarding a brand new element of the show — the Startup Zone.
Creative startups will have a dedicated area in Hall 8b at K 2022 to present their innovative products and services for the plastics and rubber sector. They will be afforded a unique opportunity to present themselves and establish international business contacts with an expert audience from all over the world, said Messe Düsseldorf in the announcement. Want to join the party? You still have time, but your company must meet the following criteria:
Be less than 10 years old;
employ fewer than 100 people;
have an annual turnover less than €10 million.
Startups that have already signed up include Plastship, a German company that has set up a European marketplace for recycled plastics, and Healix, a Netherlands-based organization that collects nets, ropes, and other plastic waste based on synthetic fibers to recycle into high-quality circular polymers. Also on board are Hage 3D from Austria, which produces large-format industrial 3D printers, and Enlyze, a German firm that has developed quality control software.
