Two free, upcoming seminars—one at a processor, the other a molding machine maker—offer opportunities for injection molders to learn more about processing liquid silicone rubber (LSR), a material seeing increased use in conjunction with greater demand in medical applications, as well as automotive and other markets.
On May 5-6, contract molder and manufacturer MedPlast will host a technical thermoset elastomer seminar for manufacturers in the healthcare and medical device industry at its Elkhorn, WI facility. There is no cost for attendance, which can be arranged online via the MedPlast website or by phone at +1 480-553-6464.
The processor plans to have three presenters plus offer a tour of its facility. Presenting will be Bernie Stritzke, VP/GM of MedPlast's facility and author of the book "Custom Molding of Thermoset Elastomers - A Comprehensive Approach to Materials, Mold Design and Processing." With him at the dais will be Prakash Pawar, senior engineer for silicones supplier Momentive Performance Materials (formerly GE Silicones), and Fred Sadr, MedPlast's technical director at the Elkhorn facility. All three bring 20-plus years experience in the field.
There will be an open Q&A session and the presentations will address materials selection and testing, as well as the processing and molding of elastomers.
