New capabilities allow chemists to perform full pellet-to-pellet conversion, and thermoplastics can be molded and tested to temperatures up to 752°F (400°C). The lab is equipped with a C.W. Brabender extruder, a Morgan-Press injection molding machine, an Instron POE2000 impact tester, a rheometer, dynamic mechanical analyzer, and differential scanning calorimeter from TA Instruments. Research can be performed with pellets, fibers, powders, and liquids.
The company offers more than 700 monomers and oligomers, polybutadiene resins, styrene maleic anhydride resins, and other specialty chemicals to modify plastics’ properties including adhesion, barrier, compatibility, heat resistance, impact strength, and melt flow index. Sartomer’s Ricon, Krasol, Poly bd and SMA resins, as well as other technologies, will be showcased in Chicago at NPE 2009, June 22-26, in booth #45084 in the South Hall. —[email protected]
