Acetal, PBT Target Medical Uses

Eleven grades of Celcon MT acetal copolymer and four grades of Celanex MT polybutylene terephthalate are aimed at medical applications, including drug-delivery systems, various equipment, and packaging. The roster includes unreinforced injection molding and extrusion grades, and ones modified for low friction, wear, and noise. Low-wear grades can be supplemented with ptfe fillers. All are biocompatible with skin, blood, and tissue, and comply with USP 23 Class IV and ISO 10993 standards. Celcon MT grades resist disinfectants and alkalis, as well as hydrolysis, and offer good toughness, rigidity, and dimensional stability. Celanex MT grades boast excellent creep resistance, dimensional stability, and processability and a relatively high continuous-use temperature. They stand up to acids, greases, polar and non-polar solvents, and gamma-ray sterilization. Ticona, 90 Morris Ave., Summit, NJ 07901 www.ticona.com
