Users can comb through the medical-grade plastics portfolios of almost one thousand leading suppliers, request samples and quotes, and make purchases all in one place.

An online marketplace for ingredients, polymers, and chemistry, Knowde announced today the launch of a segment devoted to plastics for medical and pharmaceutical packaging on its global platform.

The sourcing tool allows specifiers, converters, compounders, and buyers to search, filter, collaborate, request samples and quotes, and purchase medical-grade vinyl polymers, polyolefins, polyamides, polycarbonates, thermoplastics, polyesters, and copolyesters. Materials from nearly one thousand of the industry’s top suppliers are on the platform, including DuPont, Braskem, RTP, Teknor Apex, and Eastman, said Knowde.

“Healthcare companies have to balance consumer demands for better, more user-friendly, and more-sustainable packaging and medical devices with strict regulatory requirements,” said Dan Haas, Chief Commercial Officer. “Knowde’s powerful search capabilities enable them to navigate these challenges because they can explore materials by chemistry, application, function, technical properties, and more.”

Signup is free for R&D and procurement professionals, who also get access to KnowdeConcierge, which provides expert advice and insight on all manufacturer, brand, and product pages, and ensures prompt replies to inquiries.

Knowde said in the release that it is building the largest business-to-business marketplace in the world. The online directory currently compiles more than 3,500 suppliers, 125,000 products, and tens of thousands of buyers, according to Haas.

The launch of the platform’s medical and pharmaceutical packaging channel follows the announcement in August of a plastics for packaging segment.
