Machine Solutions adds to catheter manufacturing portfolio with PlasticWeld acquisition
A supplier of advanced equipment and services to the medical technology industry and an innovator in automating catheter and stent manufacturing, Machine Solutions Inc. (MSI; Flagstaff, AZ) announced that it has acquired PlasticWeld Systems. Headquartered in Newfane, NY, PlasticWeld Systems manufactures turnkey production equipment for catheter tipping, eye forming and drilling, soft tip bonding, tube cutting and related systems used in the production of disposable devices.

The acquisition strengthens Machine Solutions' catheter tipping and bonding portfolio and provides customers with a single source for diverse equipment that meets their development and production needs, noted the company in a press release.
"We are excited to have PlasticWeld Systems join the Machine Solutions family. Their equipment, technical know-how, customer service, and fantastic team members and culture are a great fit with our organization," said MSI President Brian Strini in a prepared statement. "This addition strengthens our current portfolio and enables us to offer a wider range of solutions to better serve our customers and increases our ability to develop next-generation offerings to address current and future needs within catheter manufacturing," he added.
MSI acquired Steeger USA, which designs, develops and manufactures braiding equipment, in 2014 and purchased Vante, a supplier of catheter manufacturing equipment, in 2013.
