Milacron, Mold-Masters deal completed

Milacron LLC has completed the acquisition of Mold-Masters, a deal originally announced February 12. The Cincinnati based supplier of plastics processing machinery, mold components, and industrial fluids formally adds the Georgetown, ON maker of hot runner systems and controls, resulting in a combined enterprise with five distinct businesses:

  • Milacron Plastics Machinery (injection, structural foam, extrusion, and blowmolding machines)

  • Mold-Masters (hot runners)

  • DME Company (mold technologies)

  • Aftermarket (parts and service)

  • CIMCOOL Fluid Technology (metalworking fluids and services)

Under the terms of the deal, Milacron LLC, backed by private equity firm CCMP Capital Advisors LLC, acquired 100% of the shares of Mold-Masters from its owner, 3i Group PLC, for an enterprise value of $975 million CAD ($950 million US). Tom Goeke, Milacron CEO, will lead the combined company. The company noted that leadership of Milacron LLC's individual businesses, including Mold-Masters, will remain the same.

3i Group PLC invested $166 million CAD in Mold-Masters in October 2007.

Mold-Masters has manufacturing facilities in North America, South America, Europe, India, and China, as well as sales and service support in 70 countries. Milacron, which was acquired by CCMP on April 30, 2012, has what it calls 22 "principal facilities" and approximately 3000 employees. According to Dow Jones LBO Wire, CCMP took out $810 million in debt to fund the purchase.
