Milacron partners with CCC on innovative new line of containers

Milacron Holdings Corp. (Cincinnati, OH), a global leader in industrial technology serving the plastics processing industry, announced that its Uniloy brand and Consolidated Container Company (CCC; Atlanta, GA) have joined together in the development of the new Dura-Lite line of containers. The innovative design is driven by consumer demand for a lighter-weight dairy/water gallon and half-gallon square bottle that is more durable. The latest generation of dairy/water containers meets several market needs—ranging from lower bottle weight and improved strength to supply chain compatibility and consumer appeal.

milarconccc.jpgMilacron worked with CCC to develop a lightweight design that has market appeal, structural integrity, performance, and compatibility with the fill-lines of CCC’s customers. The development process was a result of multiple rounds of fill-line and consumer testing to achieve a design that will run sound in most standard dairy/water supply chains and perform well with end-users.

The revamped Dura-Lite containers feature radiuses, ribs and angles that work together in order to achieve the option of gram weight reduction without having to give on bottle performance or aesthetic appeal. The symmetric ribs not only enhance the look of the bottle but also provide strength in critical areas.

David Skala, Vice President, General Manager, Global Blow Molding, Uniloy, said, “The success of the Dura-Lite container is a direct result of Milacron and CCC’s mutual respect for each other’s talents and experience.”

Alex Bernhardt, Senior Vice President for Strategy & Commercial Excellence at CCC, added, “Our customers are excited about the total solution we’re creating for them—combining the innovative Dura-Lite product design with the technical support capabilities of both CCC and Milacron, backed up by CCC’s extensive network of plants.”

The lightweight aspect of Dura-Lite also highlights CCC’s commitment to environmental sustainability by cutting back on the amount of plastic needed for these containers. Sean Fallmann, President and Chief Executive Officer of CCC, said, “I love the sustainability benefits of the Dura-Lite containers—just another one of the many solutions we offer to help our customers reduce their environmental footprint while providing the high level of quality that they have come to expect from CCC.”

Consumers can find Dura-Lite containers on retail shelves in early 2016, and will be available in gallon, half-gallon, and other sizes and will be compatible with multiple neck finishes.
