Packaging costs minimized with reel-feed FFS unit

The Topas form/fill/seal unit, for packaging free-flowing bulk goods in sacks in a single operation, can be quickly changed without the use of size parts or tools to accommodate different filling weights from 5 to 50 kg. It can handle printed continuous side gusseted tubing processed from mono- or multilayer films as well as film laminates.

Compared to prefabricated sacks, such packaging materials offer cost advantages allowing for filling flexibility at minimum cost per filled sack. Optionally an evacuation system to remove air just prior to sealing makes incorporation of vent holes unnecessary. Bags can therefore be hermetically sealed to protect hygroscopic products such as resins like nylon or polyester as well as hazardous goods. A robot palletizer allows in-line palletizing of bags, thereby reducing handling costs. Windmöller & Hölscher KG, Lengerich, Germany; www.wuh-lengerich.de
