Chicago-based CC Industries Inc. (CCI) is buying closure liner manufacturer Selig Sealing Products (Naperville, IL) from Behrman Capital, a private equity investment firm based in New York and San Francisco. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Selig is the leading supplier in highly engineered closure liner solutions for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, healthcare, personal care, industrial applications and laminated films for use in a variety of food, consumer and military applications. Steve Cassidy will continue in his role as President and CEO of Selig and the company will operate as a standalone entity within CC Industries.

sealignestle.jpgThis acquisition continues CCI's efforts to expand its portfolio of industry leading manufacturing companies, and is CCI's second investment in the packaging sector. Just last month CCI acquired J.L. Clark (Rockford, IL), which designs and manufactures specialty metal and plastic packaging for a wide variety of consumer products customers.

According to Selig’s former owners, which have been holding onto Selig for the past decade, the business is well-positioned for continued growth with CC Industries.

"Selig is an exceptional company with a long history of excellence," said Bill Crown, President and CEO, CCI. "We are delighted to add Selig to CC Industries' portfolio of operating companies."

Founded in 1889, Selig has manufacturing facilities in the United States, Canada, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Its broad product range includes Alphaseal, Aroma Peel, Deltaseal, Duoseal, FoilSeal, Lift 'n' Peel, Quadraseal, Safe-Gard, Top Tab, UniFoam and Uni-Gard, which provide consumers with tamper evidence, and counterfeit deterrence.

"Steve Cassidy and the entire management team have fostered a culture of innovation, customer service and manufacture the highest quality solutions in the specialized packaging industry," Crown said. "We are excited about Selig and dedicated to providing the resources to continue to enhance their capabilities and product offerings."

"We are thrilled with our new owners. CCI will be an ideal partner to support management for the next phase of Selig's growth. With CCI's operational and financial expertise, we will continue to focus on improving Selig's industry leading quality manufacturing, innovative product development and exemplary customer service,” said Cassidy in a statement.

CCI operates under the umbrella of Henry Crown and Co. and is the holding and management company for the Crown family’s privately-held operating companies, including Great Dane Trailers, Provisur Technologies, Trail King Industries, Little Lady Foods and Gillig LLC.
