CNC software package for two-axis milling

Millstar Jr. is a two-axis CNC retrofit package that aims to bring increased machining productivity to knee mills. For accurate positioning, the system incorporates Mitutoyo?s glass linear encoders, digital readout technology, and high-precision ballscrews. A 10-inch color LCD monitor with real-time graphics display is also included.

Programming is reportedly fast with a menu-driven interface that uses graphics and text to represent different machining operations. Repetitive machining operations such as bolt-hold patterns, drill cycles, and other complex features can be done quickly, according to the company. The system can also import G-code from CAM programs and operates in plain shop-floor language format. An automatic geometry calculator is designed to save time and prevents miscalculation.

Other options include linear and nonlinear error compensation and machine homing. A Pentium processor and Windows operating system are included in the package. Cost for the Millstar Jr. is $8900.
