Online collaboration software now offered in scalable package

Collaboration, project data management, and mold design enhancements have been incorporated into CoCreate?s newest version of its OneSpace software. The 2002 Solution Suite, which combines SolidDesigner, WorkManager, ME10, and OneSpace, reportedly includes more than 500 customer-requested features.

The first of the enhancements is a scalable collaboration service. Virtual meetings can be held using one of three packages: one that supports two participants, one that supports up to five members, and a third that enables up to 25 people to work together. These services are supported by OneSpace Designer and Adviser.
In data management, two new modules enable companies to capture, organize, and manage all data typically associated with engineering projects. The Project Data Management module enables the creation of virtual engineering projects, while Project Data Access provides access to data stored in or across a range of projects and with the ability to change the status of information.

Mold assembly design has been reportedly accelerated with two new modules. Mold Base enables designers to build mold assemblies quickly from commercially available components, and offers intelligent default and parameter selection based on existing geometry. The module will also offer advice for selecting the best components from a commercial library. It provides automatic updating of all related components, should one component change, and offers BOM (bill of materials) generation and NC output options. The second module, an All Catalog Library, provides access to all 15 available commercial catalogs.

Finally, new design-for-machining capabilities allow design teams to use preferred machining features that reflect such things as preferred machining operations and tolerances available at the manufacturing site. This tool also flags potential fundamental flaws.
