Packaging: Gerresheimer to sell former Wilden unit

Packaging supplier Gerresheimer AG will sell its 550-person technical plastic systems business—a molder of components primarily for the automobile industry. The division has standalone facilities in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Mexico as well as joint ventures in Italy and Bulgaria, with sales of around euro 70 million expected for the 2008 fiscal year. The business came to Gerresheimer with its 2007 purchase of the Wilden Group. In June, the Düsseldorf-based Gerresheimer sold its consumer healthcare business, which it said also sat outside its core business of packaging. The company has more than 10,300 employees spread among 40 locations in Europe, America, and Asia. In the financial year 2007, worldwide sales totaled euro 958 million.—[email protected]
