Jeju Samdasoo RE:born (CR-PET) is the first bottled water in South Korea to apply chemical recycling aka advanced recycling technology. The bottle uses 30% chemical recycled material in collaboration with PET chip manufacturer SK Chemicals.

The “depolymerization” technology produces raw materials that can produce clean PET through a chemical reaction of recovered PET bottles.

The bottle starts as a preform made of 70% virgin PET chip and 30% chemical recycled PET chip. The PET bottle is 100% recyclable and label-free. To increase sustainability, the bottle and cap are both colorless. The packaging reduces plastic by nearly 280 tons a year by 10% lightweighting versus a standard PET bottle.

Jeju Samdasoo RE:born is suitable for food containers by meeting drinking water-quality and container dissolution standards of the Ministry of Environment of Korea and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Jeju Samdasoo is now developing PET bottles made with 100% chemical recycled content.
