In 2012, M&G Chemicals, part of the Mossi Ghisolfi Group, announced plans to build the world's largest PET integrated plant in Corpus Christi, TX. The PET plant throughput will be one million metric tons per year, with the PTA plant producing 1.2 million metric tons per year. M&G Chemicals is among the three largest producers of PET resin for packaging applications in the world, the second largest in the Americas, in terms of nominal capacity, and employs 936 people in 14 locations in six countries around the world.
Pelletron Corp. received an order for its PET pneumatic transfer system, consisting of the three process components: Strandphase conveying, Pellbow pipe bends and DeDuster for fines removal. The company says its pellcon3 provides major savings due to efficient energy consumption compared with dense phase conveying. Unlike dense phase systems, pellcon3 does not create any dynamic forces which results in lower building construction and silo costs, the company said. The mechanical completion of the plant is planned for the third quarter of 2015.
