In addition to the fact that it’s manufactured without bisphenol-A (BPA), the Swedish maker of outdoor accessories chose Tritan for its ease of processing, clarity, dishwasher durability, toughness, and heat and chemical resistance.

Saying it was interested in a material that offered durability while allowing innovative design, Light My Fire has chosen Eastman Chemical Co.’s Tritan copolyester for its Spork line. In addition to the fact that it’s manufactured without bisphenol-A (BPA), the Swedish maker of outdoor accessories chose Tritan for its ease of processing, clarity, dishwasher durability, toughness, and heat and chemical resistance.

The company said Tritan allows it to meet consumer demand for BPA-free materials while also maintaining innovative design. The Spork, which is a spoon-fork-knife combo, targets use with backpacks, picnic baskets, lunchboxes, purses, and briefcases, offering 24 colors and three sizes. Compared to polycarbonate, Eastman says its copolyester is more flexible and can be molded more efficiently, resulting in less post-processed waste and low residual stress. —[email protected]
