Drawer magnets improve purity

Medium and fine ferrous contaminants can be removed from dry, free-flowing products under gravity flow using drawer magnets from Puritan Magnetics (Oxford, MI). As the product flows through the stainless steel housing, it cascades over the multiple staggered rows of magnetic tubes, which provide maximum contact area to remove impurities. Ferrous contaminants are pulled to the surface of the magnets, and they move to the underside of the tubes to prevent washoff. To clean the tubes, operators release the latch assembly and open the door, removing tramp metal by hand.
