Pittsfield Plastics Engineering Inc. has added 12,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 11 new and used machines, with work currently underway to expand its tool room. The Pittsfield, MA based company now has more than 80,000 sq-ft for production of injection molded plastic parts and custom designed molds.

The company says the expansion was necessitated by an increase in share of market within the spools, reels, cores, and cones sector. In addition to molding and moldmaking, Pittsfield extrudes plastic tubing and profiles for the filtration market.

Opened in 1968, the company runs a proprietary product line, in addition to custom offerings, over time becoming a key supplier of bobbins, reels, and cores to the wire, tape, cable and textile industries. The ISO 9002 certified operates 20 injection molding machines ranging in clamp force from 75 to 730 tons, in addition to a CNC turning center.
