Used machinery trader adds Turkey to its territory

MachinePoint took life in March 1999 during the Internet heyday but has transformed into a solid bricks-and-mortar business with more than 40 employees. The company remains headquartered in Valladolid, Spain. Its customer base has spread as well, to more than 80 countries. Most of the equipment it moves bears a European OEM's label.

Commenting on the expansion into the Turkish market, Cesar Rodriguez, CEO of MachinePoint, said, "The Turkish market has proven to be a very important market for our organization. Turkey is a meeting point of the continents and plays an important role in the Eurasia region. It has a lot of particularities as a market; this is why having local presence will help us serve the Turkish clients better." Turkey has a very strong plastics industry, especially in packaging and the building and construction industry.

Rodriguez says his company has seen a great increase in business coming from Turkey since 2007. "Our business this year is 30% higher than same time last year in Turkey. And the tendency is to continue this way, as we have just started to approach this market, and we have great plans for it," he added.

Heading the company's operations in Turkey will be Volkan Yilmaz.
