Instrument News: RTD/Thermocouple Thermometer; Force Gage

PN 5-6/99Extech has two new instruments available: a heavy-duty RTD/thermocouple thermometer and a high-capacity  force gage.

Thermometer Model 407917 thermometer accepts five thermocouple types (K, J, T, E and R) and one 4-wire Pt 100 RTD. The input sensor type is selected from a front-panel push-button.

Measurements are displayed on a 4-1/2-in. digit (19,999 count) LCD with 'data hold' and 'max/min/relative' displays. Basic accuracy is said to be ±0.1% full scale.

Features include selectable F/C temperature units, the choice of 1 deg or 0.1 deg resolution and an RS-323 serial interface.

Optional serial cable and data acquisition software allows users to display and capture readings on a PC. An optional datalogging module stores up to 8000 readings, which can then be transferred to a PC. Price is $219.

PN 6-6/99Force gage Model 475044 is a digital force gage that is designed to measure up to 44 lb of force with 0.5% accuracy. Measurements are displayed on a five-digit LCD with peak hold and push-button zero. The display reverses so that it is always readable, no matter the orientation of the gage.

Features include selectable fast/slow response, load cell measurement transducer and indication of over range, low battery and special function.

An optional test stand allows for tension and compression analysis. Unit comes with an extension rod, carrying case, six 1.5 v AA batteries and four adapters (flathead, hook, cone and chisel). Price is $439.
