Epoxy resins developed for stereolithography

Somos 8100 and 8110, two members of the Somos 8100 series of epoxy resins for stereo-lithography, produce white, translucent parts suitable for functional and snap-fit applications. Somos 8100, optimized for Argon ion laser systems, and 8110, developed for HeCd laser systems, join the 8120 resin that was released last year for solid state laser systems. The 8100 series resins produce parts with properties similar to high-density polyethylene, allowing stereolithography users to create functional prototypes. According to the manufacturer, the Somos 8100 family of resins offers the fastest photospeed currently available in an epoxy stereolithography resin, reducing the amount of time required to build parts. The 8110 costs $900/gal, and the 8100 costs $750/gal.
