Resin technology provides visual impact

Manufacturers of consumer products looking to improve product aesthetics in an attempt to gain market share and promote brand recognition have a new product to consider. Signature OQ resin, a new line of Lexan optical-quality resins from GE Plastics, can reportedly give prerecorded music, video, or software CDs and DVDs visual impact. This polycarbonate resin is said to have good performance characteristics, including high impact strength, high heat resistance (RTI up to 125C), flame resistance, and UV stability for content delivery via CD and DVD. Signature OQ resin is available in an array of pure colors as well as fluorescent edge flow and diamond-like flake visual effects.
