Steripack expands U.S. cleanroom manufacturing capabilities

The global medical device industry needs suppliers throughout the world who can provide consistent, reliable services. Needless to say, OEMs would rather partner with companies they know and trust than source untested suppliers as they expand into new markets and geographies. It's a lesson that Ireland-based Steripack (Clara, Co. Offaly) has learned well. The provider of cleanroom sterile packaging and contract manufacturing services recently completed the second phase of what it calls its business continuity program at its Lakeland, FL, location.

"We now have the same equipment in the United States, Asia and Europe," Tony Paolino, President of Steripack USA, told sister brand Packaging Digest. "If needed, we can go to our online global system and extract all specifications and orders, and in a week or two start manufacturing virtually the same product," he told editor Daphne Allen.

Steripack added 7000 square feet to its cleanroom area, totaling 20,000 square feet. The company's U.S. division produces diagnostic kits in its cleanroom, among other products, and provides injection molding, fill-form-seal packaging and tray sealing services. The company soon will add a second form-fill-seal machine to the shop floor, Paolino told Packaging Digest.

In addition to facilities in Ireland and the United States, the company operates plants in Poland and Malaysia.
